So...it's been awhile!

My original plan for this returning blog was to post a few honeymoon photos. Unfortunately my CF card decided to die and will be on its way to recovery tomorrow! Ugh! (Kind of makes me sick to my stomach!)

So if you hadn't noticed, I was so incredibly busy with planning my own wedding along with wrapping up the wedding season, that I decided to put blogging on the back burner.
Since everything is at a standstill now I am picking it back up in full swing. No excuses =) I have so many photo shoots from this summer and fall to post, I can't wait!!!

So with that said, here is a photo from an absolutely amaaaazing wedding I shot awhile back. A full post is in the making!

Pretty self explanatory.

We had good intentions of mailing these out, but time has slipped away and we figured more people would see it this way. There will be a formal invitation!

Also...I have been having some annoying technical issues when trying to blog full posts. I decided it is a sign that I need to take a blogging break to figure out where I want to go from here. Meaning, do I stick with blogger host or do I finally suck it up and go for a ProPhoto blog? If I get a pro blog that means I have to actually keep up with the blogging...but part of me doesn't want to conform to the rest of the photography world by having one ha! I really wish I had the time and patience to really nerd out and figure out how to make one from scratch!
Anyone out there feel like making me a blog? *cough* Jarrett Fuller *cough*

I have decided to just face the facts. I'm a bad blogger.

One year ago April 1 marks my first year of being an official "business". It was really a big experience putting myself out there. It had its highs, and it had its lows, but overall it was a giant step for me. I have learned so much from it. I am of course nowhere near the level I want to place myself, but I know a few more things when approaching my wedding season this May.

One thing is for sure, it is tough cookies blogging every shoot. I love going to other photographer's blogs and seeing new posts almost every other day it seems...then you hop over to mine and it is usually one blog for every two months!
My biggest goal with photography is getting to the level where I don't need a second job to support me. That means booking shoots on a regular basis, selling my work, etc...but it also means updating this bad boy we call a 'blog'. I think it has been especially hard for me to keep the updates flowing when I am working another job (which I do love!) and planning my own wedding, but nobody likes to hear excuses.

My first wedding is May 1st. My goal is to blog every wedding I shoot this year within a timely fashion. Of course, I will blog all my seniors and any other random shoots that I may do along the way.

Don't give up on me yet!

Kelsey & Kyle Engagement

Last Sunday I met up with Kyle and Kelsey in Hutchinson to take their engagements. I was so excited because Hutch has some pretty fun places to shoot, believe it or not! I have known Kelsey since she was in grade school and Kyle and I went to high school together, and are somehow related haha...so it was a good time shooting their photos! We had lots of laughs =) Their wedding is in June and taking place at the church that Kelsey and I grew up in in Hutchinson! Hope you all are having a great week!

Dan & Jessica's Wedding

I knew Danny and Jessica separately before they became a couple. Danny and I both went to high school together and attended the same church in Clay Center, while Jessica and I met at PSU and became close friends. I will never forget the day Jessica asked me what I thought about Danny! They had started talking and she just wanted to know a little bit about him from someone else =)
Soon after that, they started dating and I just knew that they were meant for each other! Sure enough, they got engaged and asked me to be their photographer! They told me that they not only wanted me as a photographer, but as their guest. Just take the basic photos and enjoy the night...are you kidding me?! I didn't know if I could really do that...but I did my best to enjoy the wedding and snap a few photos at the same time. (Lots of detail shots!) The big day came and it was almost overwhelming seeing all our friends from Pittsburg joining in this celebration. Their wedding was a perfect end to my wedding season, and I can't thank them enough for asking me to be a part of it.
Dan and Jessica, may God be the center of your relationship and many years of joy to come! I love you guys!

Jordan [Senior]

Earlier last year I went down to Stafford to visit my grandma and was thinking how perfect this town was for a photoshoot! Soon after that, I got an email from Jordan inquiring about senior photos. She told me she was from Stafford and I was immediately excited for this! To make things even more perfect, her family knew my grandma very well and also knew my mother and her siblings! Small world huh?

I went down a few months ago for Jordan's session and we had a blast! We went to the small downtown area first and then worked our way to my grandmother's house and a few other locations. My grandma's house has always been kept up so beautifully. She has several gardens and her lawn is spacious and full of trees. It is just perfect.

I had so much fun with Jordan and when it was all said and done, Grandma had supper waiting for me at her house =)

Thank you Jordan for having me take your photos and thank you Grandma for being so wonderful! Enjoy!

Christmas time is one of my favorite times of the year. The only problem is that it goes too fast! It is sometimes hard to take the time to sit down and enjoy it with the ones you love. Today I am doing just that. I have spent the whole day with Jake and his family just enjoying my surroundings. It has been snowing [more like a blizzard] out all day so the "Christmas Setting" has been present along with food and games. Jake and I will be heading to Mom's on New Years Day to have my family’s Christmas which will be equally exciting. I have work off until January 5th so I will be doing a lot of much needed social time between now and then. [Please CALL me if you want to get together! I would love to catch up!]

Below are a few gifts I wrapped. I decided this year I was going to be semi green and make my own wrapping paper instead of purchasing new. I get a lot of fashion and photo catalogs in the mail so instead of throwing them away I decided to put them to use!
Its super easy so I figured most can figure it out on their own. Just in case...here is an easy way to do it.

-First select your magazines. I used fashion magazines for gifts to girls and photo magazines for gifts I am giving to guys. You can also use newspaper or ads.
-Instead of tearing the pages out I took out the staples that hold smaller catalogs together. That gave me a longer sheet to work with.
-I chose ones that I liked/went well together and then laid them out, slightly overlapping one another. Do this until you have a large enough piece to wrap your gift.
-Tape the seams together and viola! Start wrapping your gift!
You can also make fun flowers and other decorations with your leftover magazines to add a fun look to your gifts!

BUSY BUSY and more BUSY!!!! HOLY COW!

Yesterday I just got back from a wonderful trip to South Carolina. Immediately following our return, we loaded a trailer with all of my things and woke up early this morning to head to McPherson. I got my keys and with the help of Jake and both our moms we were able to successfully get all my things unpacked into my new duplex. Tomorrow I will be training for my new job as a para at the grade school and then I start officially working Wednesday.

So if you haven't gotten the hint yet, I have been really busy. I am trying to play catch up so if you have tried calling or emailing me...don't worry! I promise I will return your calls/emails by the end of this week! Please pray that I won't explode from all of this running around ha!

Here is something to keep your eyes busy...Jake and I did a flipping hilarious shoot with his stache. Pretty sure I am going to have to print a few of these out. If you want to see more they are on my facebook.

*I have been asked before if I photoshop my flares in...just for clarification, I don't! This may be a new favorite of mine thanks to that wicked flare (and of course, my extremely hot boyfriend who just popped straight out of the 70s)

Taveling

I'm a traveling fool! Ok...not really, but I am currently in a hotel in Albuquerque, NM with Jake's family. We are moving Jake's sister from here to South Carolina and driving the whole way. We had an 11 hour drive from Kansas to Albuquerque yesterday and are heading east tomorrow morning. It has been a fun day so far and we have a whole week ahead of us yet. We will be back in KS October 5th so please pray that we continue to have safe travels.

While I am on the road, here is an update on what is happening with me...

I just had my last day working with my sister at her hair salon on Friday. It is going to be SO HARD leaving Becky, Cj, and the girls...but I know it is going to work out. I cannot thank them enough for letting me be a bum living in there basement. It was seriously the best summer I could have ever had. Who wouldn't want to spend every day with their two nieces! I learned so much about caring for a newborn...and interacting with a two year old =) I am so blessed to have a wonderful family and am going to miss seeing them every day SO MUCH!

On the flipside, last week I had an interview in McPherson for a Para Educator job. The great news is that I got it! I will be helping a group of kindergartners and I couldn't be more excited. Along with the new job...I will be moving into a new place. I start my job two days after we get back (Oct 7) and will hopefully be able to move in around the same time. Needless to say...I am going to be extremely busy for the first few weeks of October. Don't worry though! I will still be doing photography as much as humanly possible.

So that is it for now...thank you so much for the love, support, and prayers.

Hannah & Jed's Wedding

Hannah and Jed are two of the cutest, beautiful, Jesus loving people I have met. I love shooting weddings because my clients become more than just clients, they become my friends. I instantly had a connection with them from day one and I can't wait to get to just hang out with them in the next couple of months once things slow down for me! I could write a few paragraphs about them, their wedding, and everything else...but 1. This blog is long overdue 2. It's getting really late 3. Pictures say so much more than anything I could write.

So...enough talking...enjoy the photos!

Whenever I shoot a wedding and the bridal party prays before the ceremony...I get so teared up! There is so much love and care in the room during this time and you can just feel the presence of God.

Ok...old churches have beautiful furniture. Never fails. Jake made fun of me for loving this silly chair, but come on! Look at it! =)

Gone for the Weekend!

I am currently in the Wichita airport wasting time until my flight leaves... I am heading to Denver, Colorado to shoot a wedding reception and will be back Sunday. My first business trip ever! I am so so sooo excited to have the opportunity to travel for photography and I hope I get to again in the next year!

Everyone, meet Hannah and Nathan. I had such a blast at their wedding! I had a lot of trouble getting this blog together because there were just so many photos I could post...but it is finally here! Thank you SO much Hannah and Nathan for giving me another fabulous wedding to photograph. You two make such a beautiful couple and we have got to get together again sometime!

So here are a few from Jayice's first senior session. Let me just tell you right now that this girl was SO easy to take photographs of! The lighting was ridiculously fabulous as well so the combination of the two made for a great shoot. She really wanted to get some photos in her grandma's vintage prom dress in the wheat before harvest was over so we are going to do a "part 2" photo session in the fall to complete her photos. Here are just a few...it was way too hard picking out which ones to show you all! I can't wait for part 2 Jayice!

The rest of the photos were taken in her grandmother's prom dress. It was absolutely perfect on her! Her mom collects vintage hats so she wore one of those to complete the look. I was in photography heaven =)

Birkley Rayne Kadavy

If you haven't already heard the exciting news, I am a proud aunt to my sister Becky's second girl Birkley!!!

She was born yesterday morning at 9:38am in Manhattan, KS. Weighed an even 7lbs and was 20 1/2 inches long. Healthy and cute as a button!

Becky is a hairstylist at Studio V in Westmoreland. I currently live with her and her family and help her out at the salon. The past few weeks she has been booked solid with hair appointments. If you know anything about my sister it's that she does not stop going! 9 months pregnant or not...she is on her feet all the time doing something. We were constantly telling her to sit down!

Well...this past Monday she decided to mow the lawn. I was going to see my friend Caley that day so I left feeling a little anxious that mowing may cause her to have the baby soon! Sure enough, that morning I woke up and had two text messages on my phone-both from Becky.

First one was at 1am saying she was headed to the hospital. Lots of contractions but water hasn't broke yet. Second one said, "False alarm! Heading home!"

So I got up and drove back to Westmoreland around 7:30am and as soon as I got to Junction City my mom called me to tell me Becky was in the hospital again!

After they got home from the first hospital visit she was having a lot of contractions still. They were getting so bad that Becky decided she needed to head back to the hospital again! They got there I think around 8 or 8:30am and the doctor checked her and she was dilated to a 9!!!!!! The only thing that was holding that baby back was the fact that her water hadn't broke yet! An hour later Birkley arrived!!!

So needless to say, Becky had another beautiful baby and made it look easy giving birth once again. She just got home today and is doing wonderful!

Emily + Jeremiah [Wedding]

Here are a few from Emily and Jeremiah's wedding. I am posting more as I edit them...so come back this evening for more =)

This lovely couple got married at the All Faiths Chapel on the K-State campus in Manhattan at the beginning of June. It was a pretty nice day, but also one of the first days of summer that was actually hot! They worked it though as we took most of their photos outside. The two were very easygoing and fun to work with. They are way too cute together!!!

Congrats to the both of you and thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day! I had a blast!

Grandpa.

Grandpa and Me

This past week has been an emotional one to say the least.

I was counseling at a church camp in Scott City all last week for 4th-6th graders. It's always one of the best weeks of my summer.
On Tuesday I received a phone call from my father telling me my grandpa passed away that morning. I was devastated and just sat outside crying and remembering all the memories I shared with him growing up.

Grandpa was 85 years old and his health was not at its best. He had been in and out of the hospital for some time now. My grandma is 80 at the end of the month and has been continually taking care of him. After camp we were all going to visit my grandparents to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary...instead we attended grandpa's funeral.

Tuesday morning he woke up and got around and then he looked at my grandma and told her he was ready to go, and died in her arms. It really reminds me of a love story of some sort...

Grandpa had everything he wanted for his funeral already arranged years ago. He had written the music down to play and who to preach. Everything. During the funeral the preacher was talking and said the next song grandpa wanted to play was one his granddaughter recorded for him when she was 10. I had completely forgotten about this...when I was younger Grandpa wanted me to sing a song and record it for him so he could play it whenever he wanted. It was that very same tape that I had recorded it on for him that played at his funeral.

The only comfort I have grasped through all of this is that I know he is with God. He is pain free and is looking down on all of us. Someday I will see him again! My grandma is doing all right...but I know it won't be easy for her to live alone. I spent a lot of time with her that meant the world to me.

So if you have been trying to contact me for anything...photos...facebook messages...rent...an organ donation? I have been extremely busy and I do promise I will get back to you all. Please just be patient as I start to get back to a steady routine this week. I have literally traveled from the west to east corner of kansas in one weekend and am not home yet!

So tomorrow I'm leaving. I will be gone for a week. No phone. No computer. No electronics. Just me...a lot of 4-6th graders...some Jesus time...and the fabulous outdoors. I will respond to all emails and messages next Monday.

I'm alive...I promise

So in the past two weeks I moved from Pittsburg to Westmoreland (by Manhattan, KS). I'm working at Studio V which is my sister Becky's new hair studio. It just opened a month ago and is going so well. I haven't had a good internet since I moved out here though, so slowly I will be catching up with blogs full of photos from my past shoots and Studio V! It's hard to upload photos online when you are stealing internet from a neighbor (shhh!)

For now, here is one of my favorites from a shoot my oldest sister, Liz, and I did last week. She is so beautiful!!!!

Jordan + Jon | Details

There are sooo many photos I want to share...so I am going to start with the details and then eventually finish with a post of the ceremony and group photos photos! There are just so many I want to post! I will be adding more to this post (details) as well.

Jordan's head piece was from her mother who also wore it when she got married! I think it is so beautiful and looked a-ma-zing on her!

I haven't done much with textures, but for some reason felt like it would be a fun addition to this photo. I think it turned out fabulous.

Her dress was so beautiful! I think this is one of my favorite dress photos yet.

Another of her getting ready in the bathroom. I took a lot with that mirror =)

I loved the guest books! Instead of having an official book they had three books of different artists' work. The guests signed around the images on the pages. How cool is that? I love that idea because it is something I would look at all the time. I'm sure they will treasure them for a long time.

These little trees were all around the ceremony. A simple, but really pretty touch.

Last night I took on a few projects involving paint and other materials including photographs. I have been wanting to do some art projects for myself (and others) and these were a few things that I found around the internet that really inspired me.

I actually just bought this dress last week, and I cannot wait to get it. I love the pattern on the material. I want to do a painting involving poppies and birds.

Spring is here...and this photograph is sooo yummy! I wish I could give credit to whomever took it, but I couldn't find it anywhere. If you took this photo let me know!

One of my pieces I did last night involved this photograph of Audrey Hepburn. I love how simple it is and how happy she looks in it.

This weekend is a kick off for my wedding season. I can't believe how fast the past few months have flown! It seems like it was just January not too long ago. Anyways, I have been getting a lot of wedding inquiries, which has been such a blessing. I can't thank you enough for all your support and love. Two years ago I would have never thought I would be shooting weddings! Now, I absolutely LOVE them!

Here are photos from my weekend home... I got to spend a lot of time with my niece Tailyn. She is almost 2 in June! It's crazy how fast the past two years have gone.

She was just chillin on the counter with "Ga-ma" (how she says grandma) eating sunchips!

(My Mom and Tailyn from this weekend)

My Mom emailed me this story this morning. It was nice to read after an emotionally drained weekend...

Sometimes we wonder, "What did I do to deserve this?" or "Why did God have to do this to me?" Here is a wonderful explanation! A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.

Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, "Absolutely Mom, I love your cake."

"Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers.

"Yuck" says her daughter."

"How about a couple raw eggs?" "Gross, Mom!"

"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"

"Mom, those are all yucky!"

To which the mother replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!"

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!

God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning.

Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.

HOW TO FEEL MISERABLE AS AN ARTIST!!!

1. Constantly compare yourself to other artists.

2. Talk to your family about what you do and expect them to cheer you on.

3. Base your success of your entire career on one project.

4. Stick with what you know.

5. Undervalue your expertise.

6. Let money dictate what you do.

7. Bow to societal pressures.

8. Only do work that your family would love.

9. Do whatever the client/customer/gallery owner/patron/investor asks.

10. Set unachievable overwhelming goals to be accomplished by tomorrow.

I have been guilty of each of these at least once! Ha...I found this from another blogger. Thought I'd share. Which ones are you guilty of??

Now on to inspiring things...

1. Polyvore
I just recently became an addict to www.polyvore.com. The first time I went to it I was on it for almost three hours. There are so many creative people out there, and what better way to show your artistic side than with fashion in the mix? Go there at your own risk!

2. Film
I am so in love with film, yet the last time I used it was for a photo class last year. I haven't taken my film camera with me on a shoot, but this weekend I plan on doing it. When I was younger I used to take my mom's Minolta around outside taking shots of the most random things. I felt like a photographer when I did it! You would just laugh if you saw those photos now!

Film leaves you guessing. I love that. It's like Christmas when you get your photos developed. Sometimes you get what you want, and other times you wish you had gotten something better. It's a new challenge I plan on taking.

My Weapons of Choice:

Holga CFN 120 (With color wheel) This is my new love. Can't wait to play with it!

3. My Business
Once upon a time I started a myspace page for my photography. www.myspace.com/beautifulisolations. Ya, I was one of those kids. Haha... Three years later I have started an actual business that keeps growing because of all of you! I love photography and will do it till my fingers can't move anymore thanks to arthritis.
Awhile ago, with the help of Jarrett Fuller, we made these pretty little business cards just in time for spring! Now I just need to get them printed.

4. Travel
I have never had such a desire as I do right now to travel. I want to just get up and go. Go anywhere, for any amount of time. Just a journey to wherever the road takes me...

5. Cheap goodies...especially clothes =)
While I was home for spring break our local consignment shop was having their $1 bag day. They give you a bag, you stuff it with as much goodies (clothes) as possible, and it's only $1. The best day of the month if you ask me. I got a few dresses and a cardigan.

Twenty-one years ago Jake was born. Twenty years later we started dating. (If you aren't catching on...today is his 21st Birthday and our One Year Anniversary)

It was a long awaited journey...if you have about ten minutes, you can go to either of our Facebooks and read the note called "Our Story". It was written by Jake and was his point of view of how we got to where we are now. It makes me cry every time I read it.

I never in a million years thought that I could love someone as much as I love Jake, and I can't believe that with every day that passes, I love him even more than the day before.

I am so proud of everything he has accomplished and I can't wait to see where God takes him. He is graduating a year early (this May) and Glass Envelope is going on a massive tour to start their journey to become rockstars. He writes the most beautiful songs and he has a kick ass imitation of Ron Burgundy hehe...

I love you sooo much baby and I have cherished every single day that God has given me to be with you-even when we are 3 hours away from each other! I hope today has been a great day...even if you are stuck in Clay Center...and I can't wait for many more years to come with you!

First off, I am SOOOO excited to announce that I am attending the "I Photoshop People Tour" in March in Kansas City. Over this summer I attended their "I Shoot People" tour and it was just amaaaazing! It is a husband and wife team based out of Texas and they talk about their business and how they became so succesful. It is SO worth attending.

If you are in the KC area it is March 11 from 3-7pm. My guess is it will be at the Great Wolf Lodge by Legends because that was where their other seminar was.

One of the greatest moments I have been involved in is the couple's first sight. It is so amazing to see the look on the grooms face when he sees his bride for the first time. You can just feel all of the emotion and love between the two. Simply beautiful.

Christmas has come and gone, classes start back up Thursday, and time just keeps ticking.

I had an eye opening Christmas break...

First off- Christmas has become SO much about gifts. It has become this materialistic showdown and it has really sickened me. What ever happen to just the pure joy of spending time with loved ones? Why have we become so selfish?

Secondly- I realized that one of the HARDEST things I have ever done is be nice to someone who has hurt me. It took all of me to not just blow up, but through my family and friends God opened my eyes this break. He helped me realize that being rude or doing anything to retaliate back to someone out of revenge would only serve as instant gratification and solve nothing (No matter how badly I wanted to!). God is the only one in control and he will take care of everything.

On my way back to Pittsburg I was thinking about what had happened over break and what I was going to do about it. Its a four hour drive so I had a lot of time to think about it. I had almost reached Pittsburg when all of the sudden I got this text message from an unknown number. It said "God told me to tell you that everything your going through is taken care of." I instantly broke down in tears. I looked at the text again and I missed the end that said something like "if you believe in God send this to 10 people or else you will have bad luck," so then I just kind of laughed. But regardless, I knew that it was completely true.

God will take care of everything. It won't happen that second or even that day, but he knows what he is doing, and if you talk to him he will be there.

Examining my life the past few months I have noticed that God hasn't been my number one priority. I haven't been living through Him. I have been so saturated in working and school and life in general that I have literally put God on the back burner. I need him more than ever right now and I have just gone to him when there has been a problem.
Do you ever just talk to God? Thank Him for such a beautiful day, or tell him about something good or bad that just happened? God is the best listener out there and I just can't believe that I would ever put Him second. I need to spend more time with Him and I feel so selfish for putting myself before Him.

I'm sorry for the completely random blog, but I have noticed that posting my problems has been a very therapeutic remedy. I also know that there are some of you that can relate to what I am going through. It is also nice to look back and see how God has worked in me after a post.

2009 is here!

Looking back I would have never thought that I would become as busy as I am this year! I have several weddings already booked, and so many other photo shoots that are either booked or in the works of. God has been so great to me and has really showed me that this is what I should be doing!

The Schwarm Family was SO MUCH FUN! I had a blast taking there photos and we found some pretty awesome places to shoot at! The sun also provided some killer lighting =) gotta love that lens flare!

Stress.
It's bad for the heart and your body in general.

Causes of Stress:

Jobs.
Some are good some are bad. Try having three.

College.
It's bad for the procrastinating, too busy to think, can't say no type. (Me)

Family.
This can be a positive stress or a negative stress. My negative is that anyone with a shared DNA with me is at least a 3 1/2 hour radius from me.

Friends.
New friends and old friends. They are all amazing but it isn't fun when you never see half of them because you are too busy and live too far away.

Boyfriends.
It sucks being so far from you. I love you.

Being a Girl.
We get emotional, we cry, we complain, we eat our feelings, we spend too much money, we have babies, we worry about our clothes and about our hair, we over think things, we have days when we feel fat, etc.

Having a Flat Tire.
It makes my day when I go outside to my car and see my tire is deflating. Why can't we just have flying vehicle's like the Jetsons?

Computers.
I found out last night I have 6GB of memory left on my hard drive before my computer is full. bahhhhh!!!!

Money.
Gas, apartment, internet, electric, h20, new photo equipment, food, a new tire for my car, Christmas, the list could go on forever...

Faith.
Its so hard to put God in everything you do. I am a selfish human being who thinks too much about herself. I need to work on it starting now.

So if you haven't guessed it already, the common stresses of live are killing me this week! I hate stress and I just want a long vacation. Christmas break is slowly approaching and I cannot wait much longer.

If I could be doing anything at all right now it would be me trapped in a room with canvas walls so I could paint. Nothing relaxes me more than painting.

Sorry for venting dear readers. God is with me and I know he will help me get through this.

So it is that time of the semester when we enroll for the Spring. I currently have two jobs and so i have been trying to figure out how two jobs plus 18 hours of classes are going to work...

After it launches I will be going blog crazy with all of my recent shoots. Erin and Matt's Wedding, Melody's Sr. Photos, The Reed Family, Kadavy Family...just to name a few. But until the site is launched...no photos! =) Sorry!!!

A few more things to ramble on about...
I have some really really REALLY exciting news to share...but guess what? I CAN'T!!!!! AHHH it's going to drive me crazy! Once I can spill the beans...you won't be able to miss it! So keep a look out for it!

I could really use some prayers about the next semester and basically my future haha... It's just crazy how busy we can fill our lives up and I am realizing that I really need to eliminate a few things in mine. How can you truly enjoy something when you are busy 90 percent of your days? I also need some major time management and organization help. It is essential for photographers and I am lacking it like crazy right now. So if you are praying to the Big Guy today I'd really appreciate you adding me to your list =)

Life has taken a lot of twists and turns lately. I thought this semester was going to be a breeze with only 12 hours of classes...but then I was fortunate enough to be offered a second job. Only thinking about the fact that I could use the money at the time...I now have about one to two hours in my days that I am not doing anything-maybe!! I am working 30-plus hours a week and then the 12 hours of class on top of it. If you count doing photo shoots and finding time to process my photos....I am just a mess!

Those of you who know me know that I have a serious time management and organizational problem. So having technically three jobs isn't really a good thing for me.... But peace has sort of taken over my heart this morning and I have realized that I just need to breath. Stop worrying and know that God has a plan and that I can handle this semester! I just need focus, determination, and a secretary =)

So where is the inspiration this morning? I will tell you...

I was look at Sarah Rhoads Photo blog (for those of you who don't know already, she is amazing...go to her blog now and then come back to mine-http://sarahrhoadsphoto.squarespace.com/) going through all of her work. It is just so beautiful and it makes me want to get better and better. The thing I think I love the most about Sarah Rhoads is the love between her and her husband. They are seriously a God-breathed couple and it just warms my heart. Read the blog her husband Chris left on her birthday. It just makes me want to cry because it is just so beautiful!

I know I could say so much more about it, but just go to her blog and you will understand why I feel so inspired this morning.

Sorry there are no photos...I have been under the radar trying to get my website up and want it full of my recent shoots that haven't been seen yet!

So I changed the heading of my blog a few weeks ago. The photo is Jake (my boyfriend) and it just cracks me up every time I see it. I love that boy!

I don't know what my deal is, but I am just realizing all sorts of things this past week...

Yesterday I had plans to go to a hot air balloon festival in Topeka, but plans were changed and I wasn't sure I was going to do anything then. I figured it was going to be one of those day where you sit around the house thinking about all of the things that need to be done, but like I said, you just sit there...and those things don't get done, thus you have a very unproductive day. (This is a common thing for me, just ask Jake)

Instead, a few great friends decided we should all hang out. I went to their house first and we ended up having a mini jam session. It was two acoustic guitars and 5 beautiful voices doing some crazy harmonies for Jesus. It literally gave me chills.

That was when I realized how surrounded I am by great people who have amazing musical talents. I have Jake, who has forever been an inspiration to me because he is just all around amazing and talented. If it weren't for him, I don't think I would appreciate music as much as I do. Then I have my friends in Pittsburg who are just some really cool people.

I love music. I don't know what I am going to do when I am in my 80's and have no hearing left...

Today I've come to realized how blessed I truly am.

Looking back, this summer was a major growing experience for me and my photography. I have built my own business from virtually nothing to something in less than 5 months.
I had the help of Jarrett Fuller to create a fabulous logo for me (www.jarrettfuller.com) that I absolutely LOVE, my wonderful boyfriend, family and friends have been extremely supportive of me, and having my blog and Facebook has been a huge help! So many of my photo shoots have been made via Facebook! Word of mouth has been amazing as well.

Ok, so some of you want more photos of my dark hair. Instead of just one I thought I'd put a few photos up from the past year taken on my macbook pro camera haha...it is really quite sad how my hair has change...but maybe its sadder that I have so many photos of myself? =)

Glass Envelope

Glass Envelope is my boyfriend's band. They formed through college at Central Christian in McPherson. Basically...they rock! I love going to their shows, it just blows my mind at how amazing they are. Jake is the lead singer and writes most, if not all of their songs. (His writings are amazing) and he plays the guitar. The other members are Daniel Moraine who is lead guitar and Josh Bohnenblust who plays bass. The drummer for their summer shows is Craig Archer.

Beautiful Isolations HAS A LOGO!!!!!!

Behold the new look of Beautiful Isolations Photography!!!!!!!!!!! (I am a tad excited!)

A Little History:
Beautiful Isolations has been around off and on for about three years now. When I first started thinking of a name for my photography nothing was coming to mind. It wasn't until I was reading the book Lucky Bones that I was inspired by the word isolations. After thinking awhile I thought of "Beautiful Isolations" because I really feel like each photo is a single isolated subject that I try (and sometimes don't have to try hard!) at showing its true beauty. Thus we have a name!

This summer has been a huge growing opportunity for me. I have learned soooo much about the business side of photography and I have WAY more to learn still. But enough about that...I really feel like Beautiful Isolations has sort of hit puberty this summer and is growing up haha.. I finally have a great butt kick logo that I feel is just perfect-o for my work!

I can't thank God enough for the people he has placed in my life (Jake!) and the ones who have really helped me out. Jarrett Fuller created my logo in one night!!! Rock on right?!! Betty Crocker Time!

I decided that I am going to share recipes that I enjoy. This will be the "Betty Crocker" portion of my blogs and it will be random (like everything else in my life!) Below is a recipe for Marble Squares, and let me just say that if I was forced to eat a whole pan of these...I wouldn't hesitate to do so! They are soooo yummy! Let me know if you make them how they turn out!

Marble Squares

1/2 Cup (1 Stick) butter or margarine

3/4 Cup water

2 squares unsweetened baking chocolate

2 cups flour

2 cups sugar

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

2 eggs

1/2 cup sour cream

Topping:

1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened

1/3 cup sugar

1 egg

1 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips (or chunks-whatever you like)

PREHEAT oven to 375°F. Microwave butter, water and 2 of the chocolate squares in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. or until butter is melted; stir until chocolate is completely melted. Stir in combined flour, 2 cups sugar, the baking soda and salt. Add 2 of the eggs and the sour cream; mix well. Pour into greased and floured 15x10x1-inch baking pan.

BEAT cream cheese and 1/3 cup sugar in small bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add 1 egg; mix well. Spoon over chocolate batter; cut through batters with knife several times for marble effect. Sprinkle with the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

BAKE 25 to 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool. Cut into 36 squares.

Can you say STRESS?!?!?!

This week is the last week of classes before summer finally arrives for me! I have two finals left and a few days of work. I also have to fit ALL of my things into my car!!! Thank goodness I have a granny car that can hold a lot...I just hope it can hold EVERYTHING that I have left to take home! I couldn't be more ready to go home and spend time with family and friends though. Just three more days...

While I'm at it, here is a summer checklist of what I am planning on doing and things I want to do if I can:

Working as much as possible

Getting at least five Senior Portrait Sessions (Email or Call me to book yours now!!!)

This week has started out horribly. Stress has consumed my body and has made it hard to function. There are knots in my stomach and my mind has had so much running through it.

It is wearing me down.

The most good that has come out of this stress though, is that I realized I haven't been spending time with God like I should.
I have been living my days just thinking that I can fix this, or I can change that, a lot of "I can" statements...but really, can I? (Not really!) I have some control over my life, but God is the one who has the whole kit and caboodle. (Remember Caboodles?! ha...sorry)

But anyways, I really think God spoke to me last night and it was really strange for me because I don't really feel like I have really "heard" him before like now. (Maybe because I haven't taken the time to listen??) I was reading a book called Promises by dc Talk (yes...I was reading) and came across the most reassuring verse:

"Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all."
-Proverbs 3:5-6

I took this photo last summer and it just happens to be opened in Proverbs =)

I have been carrying this around all day and have read it at least a dozen times already. Life brings you hard times and they suck, but you will get through them! God is amazing and if you stop talking and just listen to Him for once...you will be surprised at what He tells you.

Here are about the only photos that I took at my sister's wedding! She looked absolutely beautiful and Troy was as handsome as ever =) It was hard to take many photos because I was in the wedding...so I left it up to the fab photographer Linnie to do her magic!
But! Liz and I are going to do a rockin photo shoot in her wedding gear when I am home in May. So I can NOT wait for that!!!

Studio Work!

I just sat in front of my computer for almost 3 hours going through photos. Talk about an exciting life! While everyone else is interacting with other human life forms I am sitting in my room at my computer. Haha...I am such a nerd. Thankfully I had Bethany and Kelly to keep me company. Bethany and I decided we have an incurable case of ADHD. We have been singing random songs, watching Elizabethtown and eating cookie dough....while both at our Macs.

ALSO!! I am going HOME tomorrow!!! Yay!!! Why? You ask...well...my wonderful sister Liz is getting married to Troy Galvan on Saturday in Manhattan, KS! YAYAYAY!!!!!!

Over spring break I was going to shoot one of my friends, Caley, but the weather got the best of us. =(

Spring is Almost Here!!!

Today has been such a beautiful day! It makes me even more ready (if it's possible) for spring to FINALLY arrive! I hope all of you are enjoying it as much as I am! Here are a few things going on right now...

Recent Updates:

-I am doing a photo shoot with Sara Vanderbilt next Thursday! Instead of being behind the camera I am going to be in front of it! The photos are going to be for Hair Experts Salon and Day Spa. I am just a taaaad excited for this =)

-I got offered to shoot another wedding July 19th! Not sure if I am up for it due to the lack of experience..but I am considering it! Prayers and advice are ALWAYS welcome (and needed)!!!

-I am taking a friend's engagement photos here in Pittsburg very soon and am already getting requests for senior portrait sessions this summer.

-I am in DESPERATE need for a great logo!!! If anyone out there has some creative ideas for me please send me an email (sdcrawmer@yahoo.com) and we can talk about this more. I will post an individual blog on this with more details very soon.

-Lastly, I am available this summer to do senior portraits and any other photo shoots! I will get a blog up with more details for this as well Email me or facebook me if you are interested in having me take your photos.

I just got this little guy at a thrift shop downtown and thought I would share him with you all! Isn't he so cute?!
